Private Catholic Groups

Two private Catholic groups provide special assistance to the needy in the territory Diocese of Baton Rouge:
  
One, the larger, is a private group of Catholic laity, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Their ministries include a dining room where free meals are served each day, a nighttime shelter for homeless men, a day-and-night shelter for homeless women, four area thrift stores which offer low cost items, and a pharmacy which dispenses prescription drugs to those who cannot afford them otherwise:
