Enrichment credits are catechetical continuing education credits for individuals employed by the diocese who are required to earn specific levels of catechetical certification. Enrichment credits can be achieved by attending special catechetical or religious education events, retreats, or conferences previously approved for a certain number of Enrichment hours. Enrichment credits can also be earned by taking a MAT I or MAT II course after obtaining either Basic or Intermediate Certification.
Who Needs Enrichment Credits?
Anyone can participate in Enrichment Courses and opportunities offered by the Diocese if the event is open to the public. Certain employees of our diocesan Catholic schools or our diocesan parishes are required to earn either Basic Certification or both Basic and Intermediate Certifications. Once these employees reach the maximum level of certification required for their station, they are asked to keep their catechetical profile active by taking Enrichment credits. The general requirement is that post-certification employees take 20 Enrichment credits every 2-3 years.
How do you get Enrichment Credit for an event?
In order to get Enrichment credit for an event, that event must first be submitted by the event organizers to our Office of Evangelization & Catechesis for approval using the link to the form below. If the event organizers are not able to make the submission directly, then another suitable person may make the submission on their behalf. An example of a suitable alternative person might be the CRE of a school or the DRE of the parish. Whoever it is, this person needs to be willing to take charge of not only filling out the form but also gathering signatures on the day(s) of the event and sending them to the Office of Evangelization & Catechesis after.
In order for an individual to earn the Enrichment credits being offered at an event, he or she must locate and sign the appropriate sign-in sheets specifically for credit. It is also very important that the participants plan to stay the entire time the event is going on, even if it's over several days. No partial credit is given for most Enrichment events. If someone fails to attend and sign in for each day of the event, he or she may forfeit any credits.
