Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Baton Rouge will host a “Way of the Cross: Passion of Christ, Passion of the World” on Good Friday, March 29, 9–10:30 a.m. The event starts at the steps of St. Joseph Cathedral, 412 North St., Baton Rouge, and goes through a 14-station route to the Governor’s Mansion and back to the cathedral. The event provides an opportunity for the community to gather and pray and reflect on social injustices in the world.
On Wednesday, April 17th the Louisiana Conference of Catholic Bishops (LCCB) will sponsor the third annual Catholic Faithful Citizenship Day at the Capitol in Baton Rouge. Registration is required. The goal of this day is to continue educating and engaging Catholics on the Church’s Social teaching and the influence it intends to have on shaping the legislative process and the moral character of society. The day will start at 8:45 a.m. with prayer and an orientation to Catholic teaching at the St. Joseph Cathedral’s Parish Hall, 401 Main St., Baton Rouge, followed by morning and afternoon sessions in the Capitol Building, lunch, Mass, and ending with closing prayer at 3:30 p.m. in the Cathedral.
