Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital in Baton Rouge celebrated the dedication of its St. Anthony of Padua Chapel on June 7. The chapel will provide a place to pray and place to be in the presence of the Lord for the families with children in the hospital. Bishop Michael G. Rylee was diagnosed in April, and since then has been receiving medical treatment at St. Jude. In St. Matthew’s Gospel, St. Peter asks Jesus how many times must he forgive someone who sins against him. “As many as seven times?” Jesus answers “not seven times but seventy-seven times” (Mt 18:21-22).
Bishop Michael G. Duca sprinkles holy water during the blessing of the St. George Church in Baton Rouge Children of God Mausoleum on May 26. The mausoleum is dedicated to babies who were miscarried, still born or died in early infancy. This mausoleum is a humanitarian effort to provide a dignified and respectful resting place for those suffering tragic loss of a baby in the Baton Rouge area. The Women’s Giving Circle of the Diocese of Baton Rouge recently ended its 2023 giving season by celebrating its opportunity to join in the mission of critical ministries with a Mass and grant awards presentation luncheon.

The Diocese of Baton Rouge continued its observance of the three-year Eucharistic Revival on the Solemnity of Corpus Christi Sunday, June 11 with a Solemn Mass and Eucharistic procession at St. Joseph Cathedral in Baton Rouge. At the conclusion of Mass, Bishop Michael G. Duca carried a monstrance containing the Sacred Body of Christ in the form of a consecrated host and led the faithful in a formal procession around Cathedral Square.
