Our Process

PrayA spiritual direction intern candidate is a practicing Catholic and has a strong prayer life. He or she is seeped in Scripture and the Sacraments.

Gather
A spiritual direction intern candidate has 24 hours of undergraduate or graduate Catholic Theology formation credits.
If you do not have these prerequisites already, Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady of the Lake University (FranU) is located in the Diocese of Baton Rouge and has a Catholic Theology and Catechesis Certificate.

DiscernA spiritual direction intern candidate has been in Ignatian spiritual direction for a minimum of 2 years, has made the full Exercises (30-day retreat or the 19th annotation in Daily life), and has attended a 5-8 day silent, directed Ignatian Retreat.
