Did you know that up to 64% of all abortions in the U.S. are coerced? The mother feels pressured, often threatened, and believes she has no other choice. Part of the mission of the Church is to support women during their time of need. As we are confronted daily with the tragedy of abortion, the Diocese in partnership with Catholic Charities, has established a support program sponsored by USCCB called "Walking With Moms in Need."
The Mission of "Walking With Moms in Need" in the Catholic Diocese of Baton Rouge is to develop parish-based support for pregnant and parenting mothers to ensure that any woman who finds herself unexpectedly pregnant, or parenting in difficult circumstances, can turn to her local Catholic Church to be connected with the resources she needs.
Assist parishes in maintaining a directory of resources.
Partner with and support frequently used resources (Catholic Charities, Pregnancy Centers, Food Banks, Educational Resources, Medical Clinics, etc.).
Help fill resource gaps.
